The Prince of Wales, a Cognac connoisseur and the future King George IV of Great Britain, personally requested a “Very Special Old Pale” from the House of Hennessy. Delivered in 1818, this new classification “V.S.O.P” became a benchmark for all Cognac makers, denoting elevated quality and aging.
The world’s first, and favorite V.S.O.P Cognac blends over 60 eaux-de-vie to achieve perfect harmony – a testament to the enduring expertise of the Hennessy Master Blenders. A natural balance of strength and smoothness with a long-lasting finish.
The balance and complexity of Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège makes it ideal for drink recipes that highlight the quality of the spirit, especially in classic Cognac cocktails.
In perpetuating the legacy of the original Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège – specially conceived by Hennessy in 1817 for the English Prince Regent, who would become George IV – the objective of the Hennessy master blenders has always been to create a complete and harmonious blend: the definitive expression of a perfectly balanced cognac.
Based on a selection of firmly structured eaux-de-vie, aged largely in partially used barrels in order to take on subtle levels of oak tannins, this highly characterful cognac reveals balanced aromas of fresh vanilla, cinnamon and toasty notes, all coming together with a seamless perfection, whether enjoyed on the rocks, as a long drink or in a more creative mix.
Hennessy Cognac has several editions of bottles and even has a Collector’s Bottle section. Manufactured in the south-west of France, it comes in different flavours with distinct aromas. The few really famous products of Hennessy Cognac are as follows: Hennessy VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) —this drink was created in 1917 for the future King of Britain, King George IV. The reason for its tastefulness lies in the procedure of its production. It develops in 6-12 years in oak barrels.
Hennessy VS (Very Special) — this drink was manufactured in the 18th century and is famous for its aftertaste of vanilla. It is made from various cognac spirits which are collected and left in an oak barrel for about 3 to 7 years to ferment.
Hennessy XO (Extra Old) — this product is rare and was created in the late 19th century. It has been manufactured by the combination of hundreds of varieties of grape and takes 20 to 30 years to develop. The taste is flawless. This drink is a luxury in itself.
